BIBLE IN SCHOOLS.

LETTER OF PROTEST SENT. EDUCATION BOARD CHAIRMAN EXPLAINS. A letter of protest has been forwarded to the Prime Minister in connection with the Minister of Education's permission to the Bible-in-Schools League to consult public schools registers. The communication has been forwarded by the president of the State Education Defence League (Mr. C. E. Major).

When the matter was referred to Mr. A. Burns, chairman of the Auckland Education Board, he said he was not aware the Minister had given permission. Mr. Burns put a totally different complexion on the matter by remarking that as far as he recollected, the Minister had said he would raise no , objection if permission to consult the registers were given by the education boards.

The Rev. Canon Percival E. James, chairman of the Auckland Bible-in-Schools League, when referred to, confirmed the statement made by Mr. Burns.
