TOWN PLANNING MAPS.
COSTLY OF PREPARATION. HAMILTON'S REALISATION. (By Telegraph —Own ("nrrpsponden*.! HAMILTON, Thursday. One of the requirements of the Town Planning Act is that each local body affected by it must provide a civic survey map of its territory, together with a town planning map. Referring to this subject at a meeting of the Hamilton Borough Council Cr. C. J. \Y. Barton, who represented the council at the recent Municipal Conference, stated that this requirement of the Act was drastic and immediate. The map would require to be very complete, showing all contours, and giving all other details. It was said by an Auckland delegate that Auckland City had such a map, which cost them £0000 to prepare.
Cr. O. R. Farrer: It would cost them more than that.
C'r. Barton thought the council should look carefully into the requirements of the Act. If such a plan were to be prepared the sum for it would have to be included in the forthcoming estimates.
A special committee was set up to go into this and other requirements of the Act.
