FIJI CUSTOMS.

INCREASED RETURNS. (From Our Own Correspondent.) SUVA, January 20. The revenue for the mouth of November was no Jess than £17,000, while for December it soared to £30,506, being much beyond all official estimates. At the last meeting of the Legislative Council the Treasurer, in trying to pass some extra taxation proposals, asserted that the Customs revenue would be £32,000 for the last two months of the year. Mr. Marks and Sir Maynard Hedstrom challenged him. Results show that the actual revenue was no less than £16,000 over the Treasurer's estimates for the two months. The total for the year was £272,000. Yet we have the extra taxation.
