HIDES AND SKIN AUCTION.
A DULL MARKET
Ridding was not brisk at the auction sale of hides and skins this afternoon in the Chamber of Commerce. Many lines, especially of hides, were passed in. as the offers were not up to the standard of holders' ideas of value. Sheepskins, which sold at satisfactory prices a fortnight ago, were very dull of sale to-day. Quotations are:—Hides: Medium and heavy ox, up to Sd per Ib; light, fid: medium and heavy cow, s|d; light, 3Jd; calf, SHd to 10d per lb. Sheepskins: Dry, three-quarter to full wool. 10* dto 1/; half wool, to Sid; quarter to half wool, 7Jd; pelts, 7|d per lb. Salted skins: Best heavy full wool, 8/ to 9/ each; good, 6/8 to" 7/3; quarter and short wool, 4/ to 5/10: lamb, 5/. One horse hide sold for 10/.
