IN A PERSIAN GARDEN.
The novel and delightful entertain-* ment "In a Persian Garden" will be opened by the Mayor to-morrow at 3 p.m. The decorations are on a most elaborate scale. The whole of the stage is being given to a Moorish Mosque, which. with its domes, and towering minarets, and novel lighting, will give the keynote of the entertainment. The tableaux, which will be suggestive of the East, will be of exquisite beauty. They are being arranged by Miss Cecil Hall. "They will, both in subject and rendering, catch and reflect the spirit and atmosphere of the East. The general decorative, lighting and scenic effects will be on a scale rarely before attempted in Auckland. The flaming colours of the East, the brilliant hues of the canopies, "the quaint and beautiful Persian costumes of three hundred girls and the Eastern tableauxwill combine to make a striking picture. Strange signs in Persian characters, and exotic symbols will also give the spirit of the Orient. There will be a tea garden, and the centre of the Town Hall will be reserved for dancing.
