STOLE FROM EMPLOYERS
YOUNG MAN'S OFFENCES.
BENT BACK TO GAOL,
FOR SIX MONTHS.
Charles Leslie Ling (27). at the Police Court this morning, pleaded guilty to lour charges of stealing a total sum of £20, the property af the Papatoetoe Sash and Door Factory, He hacj nothing to say.
Senior Detective Hammond stated that accused, who had been employed by the Papatoetoe firm, had obtained the money by overdrawing for wages and freight. It was a mean thing to do. as his em-, ployers knew that he had been in goal for similar offence*, but were anxious to give him a chance to make good. Accused was a married man with one ehiUl. He wanted to be sent to the Inebriate*' Island.
Mr. Poynton: He cannot go there. There are some very decent people at Rotoroa. He will be sentenced to si.\ months' imprisonment on one of the charges. On the others he will be convicted and discharged.
