SOUTHERN REPRESENTATION.

PROPOSAL TO MAINTAIN. f. (By Telegraph.—Special to "Star.") WELLINGTON, this day. The prospect of the South Island losing another seat as a result of the census disclosure of a large increase in population in the North Island is to receive the prompt attention of southern members who are to be called together next week to consider the matter. It is probable that the scheme already indicated in these columns for maintaining the present number of southern seats while increasing the North Island constituencies in accordance with population will be considered, with a view to representations being made to the Government.
