RUN OVER BY A TRAIN.

■ • YOUNG MAN'S ECCENTRICITIES. (By Telegraph.—Press Association.) PALMERSTON NORTH, this day.. At the inquiry into the circumstances surrounding the death of Denis Francis Geaney, a single man, aged twenty-two, whose b"ody was found on the railway line near Bunnythorpe on the morning of January 14, the evidence of a brother was that deceased attended a dance at Palmerston North on January 13. He afterwards stated to a relation that he would return to Feilding on the evening of the 14th. He was somewhat eccentric ' in- bis behaviour. "It . appears to be conclusive from the -evidence," said the coroner, "that deceased was a man of eccentric habits, that it was a common practice for him to walk long distances from one town to another, sometimes'walking on the railway lines. It is quite clear he was in Palmerston North on January 14. He was seen at Terrace End in the evening and apparently he walked on the railway line, and was overtaken by a train, which struck him, causing death. It is not quite clear why deceased turned round to face the train, ias ■ would appear to have been the case from the evidence of the police. The case is hardly one of suicide. I find that deceased was killed near Bunnvthorpe by a railway train on January 14."
