GENERAL AVERAGE STRUCK.
CARGO BY S.S. SURREY. COLLISION IN THE THAMES. The local office of the New Zealand Shipping Company have received advice that a general average of five per cent has been struck on the cargo of the steamer Surrey, which arrives at Auckland from London to-morrow night. The Surrey, which is" owned by the Federal Steam Navigation Company, was concerned in a collision in the river Thames on November 25. Details of the accident have not been received in Auckland and the extent of the damage is unknown. On arrival to-morrow evening the Surrey will first proceed to the powder anchorage to unload a quantity of explosives. She is expected to come into port on Saturday morning. The New Zealand Shipping Company announce that the general average will be collected ■ from consignees before the cargo is delivered.
