RUSSIAN BUYERS AT HOME.
DELEGATION TO ENGLAND. HUGE PURCHASES TO BE MAX>F. ' LONDON, August 12. ' I Four delegates from a Russian textile syndicate have arrived in England. They state that if satisfactory terms are offered to them they intend to buy £4,000,000 or £5,000,000 worth of textile machinery in Lancashire and Yorkshire. The Russians travelled to England via Germany, where favourable offers were received, but they cay they prefer English machinery, with which Russian operatives are familiar. The syndicate represented by the delegates consists of 43 trusts, which employ 500,000 workers and have 6,500,000 spindles operating. The Russians say they also desire to give a £2,000,000 contract for the erection of five new mills. All the contracts they have to offer depend on the possibility of them obtaining long credit. The Russian Government has placed £300,000 worth of orders for cotton cloth and yarns in Lancashire.—(A. and N.Z. Cable.) i
