, (Received 1 p.m.) DETROIT, August 10. The locomotive which Mr. Henry Ford believes will be the next step in world railroad transportation is ready to make its trial test over Ford's Detroit-Toledo-Ironton railroad. The locomotive is the longest ever built (117f*, electrically driven, and developing a maximum of 5000 horsepower, sufficient to pull a train of freight cars a mile and a-half long at a maximum speed of 35 miles an hour. Each of the 16 axles is driven by a separate motor current obtained from an electrified line. The cab has 42 plate-glass windows, and elaborate precautions against shocks are taken. — (A. and N.Z.
