GEORE HARNETT'S APPEAL.
DETENTION IN ASYLUM. LONDON, March 17. The Judicial Committee of the House of Lords unanimously dismissed Mr. George Harriett's appeal against the judgment of the Appeal Court in his action against Dr. Adam.— (".Sun."') George Harnett, a well-to-do landowner, was awarded £17,500 damages against Dr. I'ond (Commissioner in Lunacy) and £7."> on against Dr. Adam (keeper of a mental hospital) for alleged unlawful detention in the institution for nine year?. Judgment was given for with costs, against Drs. Bond :uid Adam jointly, and for £5000 against Dr. Bond, with costs. The defendants appealed, and the Court allowed Dr. Adam's appeal and entered judgment for him with costs. A new trial was ordered in the case of Dr. Bond, who was granted the costs of his appeal. The appeal in which judgment is now given was lodged last July.
