SECOND MAN DEAD,

THE QUEENSLAND TRAGEDY,

BRISBANE, this day.

The death occurred of John Lawson, second victim of the stabbing affray at Macknade. — (A. and X.Z. Cable.)

While three men were walking through a cutting between Halifax and Macknade at night, they were set upon by a man ■with a knife, who had evidently waited for them. John Lawsen received two severe stabs in the back. William Harris received a deep stab in the chest and died shortly after. All the men were enginedrivers.

David Ballinsrhal, enginedriver, gave himself up to the police at Halifax soon after the occurrence.
