BUTTER AND CHEESE.

I GOOD SEASON'S O-TOOOK. I MARKET PROSPECTS REVIEWED, t v - [ (By Telegraph.—Own Correspondent.) | HAMILTON', this day. ! Referring to the present season's : dairy prospects, Mr. Goodfellow told a "Times" reporter to-day that the out- | look is exceedingly favourable, and, judging by recent reports, Australia, | likewise, is expected to have a record I season. ' " Tf," said Mr. Goodfellow, '•Germany continued to buy substantial quantities of butter, no difficulty was anticipated in disposing of additional quantities, but if production in Australia and New Zealand greatly exceeded that "of the previous year's figures, and if Germany ceased buying, then unquestionably there would be a very substantial i drop in prices at any time after ChristI mas. For that reason advance payments I during the flush of the season would ! necessarily have to be made on a conservative "basis. On October 20 (covering the September supply) the NewZealand Co-operative Dairy Co. paid its suppliers the sum of £300,525. | Production, so far as the New I Zealand Co-operative Dairy Company was concerned, at the end of Septembers this year, as compared with ' figures for the same period last year, i showed an increase of 30 per cent for I butter. The cheese figures were not yet available, but there was undoubtedly a substantial increase of this commodity also. These figures," added Mr. Goodfellow, "were somewhat favourable as contrasted with Dominion returns, and were no doubt accounted for somewhat by the fact that 143 suppliers who had previously left the company, had returned during the past two months: whereas only 35 had left."
