NEW SHIPPING CONTRACT.
SAVING OF £121,875 YEARLY.

The New Zealand Dairy Produce Board, at its meeting yesterday, confirmed arrangements made by the overseas delegation for completion of shipping contract with associated shipping companies for the period ending July 31, 1927. The freight rate orr butter has been reduced to 4/ a txhe for three years. For the first two years, commencing November 1, ">824, the freight rate on cheese is 29/32nds of a penny per pound, and for the third year 7/Sths of a penny per pound. On the basis of an export of 65,000 tons of butter and 65,000 tons of cheese, this represents a saving of £121,875 per annum for the first two years, and £140,833 for the third year. On a percentage basis it is a reduction o£ 11.1 per cent on butter and an average reduction for three years of 10.8 per cent on cheese.
