LEASES AND REVALUATION. SUBSIDISING SOCIETIES. At.the usual meeting of the Auckland Hospital Board held last night in the board's offices, Kitchener Street, Mr. William Wallace, chairman; presiding, an important matter was raised In connection with the leases of property forming part of the board's valuable endowments. The chairman said the question had been raised whether the leases gave the right of renewal at ths end of twenty-one years or only at the end of sixty-three years. Of course, Uie idea was that the leases should boon the principle o£ a Glasgow lease, and if the contention mentioned were sustained then It would be a serious thing for the board Many of the properties were exceedingly valuable, and if the board could not them revalued at the end of the twenty-one years then much revenue would bo lostIt was agreed to refer the matter to the Finance Committee, which is now awaiting an opinion on the question of the leases from the board's solicitors. ' . , Mr. J. Rowe raised the question of enforcing the clause in the leases requiring the tenants to build within a certain time.
