MEETING OF COUNCIL CANTEEN FUND INTACT. (By Telegraph-—Press Association.! WELLINGTON, this day. At the annual meeting of the War Funds Council accounts showed that | funds now total £117,310. A financial. statement was submitted showing the patriotic funds held in the Dominion I at latest advices to be £052,424, and I the British Red Cross and Order of St. John had investments and property of £188,958. It was explained that the fund held I by the Canteen Board now amounted to £165,591, and that it was the policy of the board to keep this fund intact until it reached £200,000, when the question of disposal would be considered. In the meantime assistance to soldiers would be rendered by district patriotic societies.
