Das is shortly going to England for the purpose of discussing an earjy amendment to the rules under the Raj Act so as to permit a greater number of subjects to come under direct popular control. It is understood from a reliable source that Mr. Das was anxious to end the present stalemate situation by an hon- J ourable, just and fair compromise as an alternative to a final direct action campaign.— (A. and N.Z.
