fifty raxm:qN acres seized. PRICKLY PEAR PEST. (Received 11 a.m.) BRISBANE, this day. JMr. H. J. M. Payne (chairman of llie Pricky Pear Commission, states that prickly pear has infested Queensland to such an extent that it has spread over lan area of freehold and Crown lands I totalling 50,000,000 acres, and was continuing to spread at the rate of 327,238 acres per annum. Millions of acres, served by railways, have been rendered almost ! useless from the points of view of settlement and revenue producing.— (A. and N.Z. Cable.)
