Mr. B. N. Murray, of Canterbury, arrived from England by the Port Victor this morning.
Mr. and Mrs. A. L. Matson, of Christchurch, are among the guests staying at the Grand Hotel. Mr. F. A. Smith and Mr. do Cremiere, of Wellington, arrived in Auckland this morning, and are staying at the Grand. Major and Mrs. Dean Pitt, of Gisborne arrived in Auckland by the Arahura yesterday afternoon. They are staying at Cargcn. Dr. Bransgrove, who has spent four years studying' in England, returned to the Dominion by the Port Victor this morning. Mr. R. T. Reid and Mr. George Parr, of Hamilton, arrived in Auckland this morning and are staying at the Star Hotel. "ilr. T. A. Hunter, who has been attending the sitting of the dental commission at Auckland, was a passenger for Wellington last evening. Engineer-Lieut. W. J. B. Rose, R.N., leaves for Wellington hy the express this evening to join H.M.s. Chatham for a fortnight's training. Captain T. A. Williams, R.N.. of Chrietchurch, arrived in Auckland from Liverpool by the Port Victor this morning. He is staying at the Grand Hotel. Mr. W. Fleming McMullen, secretary of the South African Board of Trade and Industries, expects to commence his tour of the North Island on December 10. Mr. C. L. Dearsley, of Christchurch, accompanied by Mrs. Deareley, returned to the Dominion last week, after an absence of some nine yearn. The following names appear on the register at the Central Hotel:—Messrs. J. V. Turner, of London; H. Shaw, R. G. Rosb, G. H. Forsyth, of Wellington; and Colonel C. E. Andrews, of Paeroa. Mr. A. S. Taylor, chairman of""flic Christchurch Tramway Board, expects to pay a visit to England next year, where he will inquire into the latest developments in connection with tramways. Mr. Justice Reed, accompanied by Mrs. Reed, arrived in this city and is staying at Cargen. His Honor, with Mr. Justice Stringer, will preside over the civil sittings of the Supreme Court to-morrow. A large and representative gathering of business men assembled in the Nelson City Council Chambers to bid farewell to Mr. Cecil King on his retirement from the National Bank, after having been 32 years manager of the Kelson branch.
