FIREMOOD BUSINESS FAILS.
DEALER ADJUDGED BANKRUPT. Only two creditors were represented at the meeting called for yesterday to discuss the affairs of Robert Fewell. Bankrupt's statement was to the effect that he had been in the building trade, but afterwards was on a farm of 88 acres belonging to his wife at Kaukapakapa. The farm was sold for £100 cash and £500 deferred, and bankrupt set up a firewood business at Parnell, in which -he lost £223 and his wife £257.. He only drew a total of £180 out of the business. The causes of his failure were excessive cost of delivery (9d a bag instead of the 6d anticipated), exceptional trouble with a motor lorry, and ill-luck" , with draught horses. Bankrupt had paid some of his creditors—a general offer of 5/ in the £ had been refused — and was now managing a store in the country.
