CHARITY COLLECTORS.
JOINT EFFORTS ADVOCATED. (By AnoelatloD.) CHRISTCHURCH, Wednesday. The desirability of instituting a more satisfactory system of collecting funds for charitable purposes in place of the cumbersome methods at present in vogue was discussed by a conference of delegates of charitable and social organisations to-day. The chairman, Mr. H. Holland, said it was thought that it would be better to have one joint appeal each year instead of haying separate appeals for each organisation. '" Satisfactory arrangements could be made for an equitable division of the funds among the organisations. Moreover, it was thought that business men and others would subscribe more generously to one appeal. The meeting was adjourned m> that delegates could place the position before their societies.
