ORPHANS' ANNUAL MEETING.

TROF. MAXWELL WALKER .ELECTED PRESIDENT. I The thirtieth annual meeting of the Auckland Orphans' Club was held in the Scots Hall, Svmonds Street, on Snturda.v night. The retiring president. Mr. W. A. D. Crawford; i treasurer. 'Mr. H. 1 B. Harper; committee,.- - Messrs. E. Winthrop. J. Lovett, J. P. Howden, D. Mclnnes, Jas. Robinson and W. I Peggs; auditors, Messrs. J. A. Gentles and 5 W. T. Brown: conductor of orchestra, Mr. 5 Geo. F. Cater; pianists, Messrs. Cyril jfl Towsey, Wm. Dingle and Len. It was announced that the session would open on Saturday, May 6, the Scots- 'Hall, with accommodation for nine hundred persons, having been secured lor tbe club's fortnightly gatherings. Of recent years the cinb had suffered from overcrowding, and the membership lad to be limited, and visitors' privileges curtailed. The conductor of the orchestra, Mr. Geo. Oater, foreshadowed the formation of an Orphans'. Cinb choir.

The report stated that the membership was 477. and the 1021 session had been very enjoyable. The concert given hy the Orphans' orchestra realised __0 for the Auckland Hospital Radium Fund, and the orchestral annual concert at the Blind Institute was much appreciated. Tbe president and committee of the Worklngmen's Club were thanked for the use of chairs at the Orphans' gatherings.
