£k;HTH ANNUAL CONFERENCE. The eighth annual Conference of the New Zealand Council of Agriculture is to be held in the Dominion , Farmers' Institute. Wellington, commencing Wednesday, July '10. There are some 40 remits already listed for discussion, among which are the following:— "That the question of a championship show he again approved, and that it hi: an instruction to the executive, in conjunction with the Board of Agriculture, to endeavour to arrange for an annual championship show to -be held in New Zealand as soon as it is possible to secure Government co-operation."— Masterton. "That the Government, having recognised the principle of exempting show grounds from hind and income tax. -be again strongly urged to make mandator}- those clauses in the Rating Act which give power to local bodies to exempt agricultural show grounds from local bodies' taxation, provided that the grounds so exempted are bona fide show grounds, and any revenue accruing therefrom is used only for the purpose of advancing and building up the agricultural and pastoral industry."—Manawatu and West Coast. "That, in view of the present acute shipping position, the question of the establishment of a line' controlled byproducers be considered."—Canterbury. '"That it is essential, in the interests of farm production, that a soil survey of New* Zealand be.carried out, and, failing a survey of the whole Dominion, a start should -be made in districts of which the Agricultural Department has already considerable data."—Masterton.
