THE HIDE MARKET.

LOWERING OiF TRICES. A lowering of prices at the hide anil skin salp lie.ii yesterday was attributable to the fact that there were no export buyers present. Very, few of a, flood catalogue ol hides changed hands, the prices offered Hieing about fid a lb lower thau those at the last sale. Skins were also in good supply. Stout ox hides, which on June 21 brought 13d v lb, were passed in yesterday at fro-ni iid to 7d a lb, while for medium lots 5d to (3d a lb was offered, compared With recent rates of from 7d to Sd a lb. Light ox hides failed to find buyers, the bids ranging -from 3Jd to 4Jd a lb. At tne last .sale hides of this description were sold at from 4Jd to 6d a lb. Best cow hides sold up to 5d a lb, equal to the figure realised for best grades last month. Medium light lots showed a decline of from -Jd to 4d a lb, ibeing sold at from.4d to 4Ad a lb. At the lust sale-tlie prices of similar hides were 4Jd to 4}d a -lb. Kip and yearling hides were passed In at from 5d to 7d a lb, and calfskins at from Od to 11 Jd a lb. For faulty and damaged hides and calfskins Id to 1W a Hi was offered, but no business resulted. Horse bides were not in demand, the prices offered being* 4/0 to G/3 each, according to quality. Large horse hides last month sold at 11/ each, and medium from 7'li to 9/ each. Dried sheepskins sold at from 2*d to Sa a lb for three-quarter to full-woollpd skins. Half-woolled skins brought from 2d to I'Jd a lb. Quarter-woolied pelts realised'from lid to 2d a lb, .and bare pelts from Id to lid a lb. Three-quarter to a full-woolled damaged skins were sold nt from Id to l*d a lb and quarter to balf-woolled damaged skins at from id to Jd a lb. For faulty and neglected pelts there was no demand.
