FLOODS AT OTAKI.
FACTORY' SWEPT AWAY. (From Our Own Correspondent.) WELLI NITON. Tuesday. As a ret-ult of Saturday unci Sunday's heavy rain all the river- in the district ■ne're" in flood on Monday, and several acres of low-lyinj lands were inundated, says a ''Xew Zealand Times'' correspondent. The Kuku mnl Waikawa streams flowed down the main roads, while the Otakl River was very turbulent, overflowed it.- banks, and for a time threatened to block motor traffic. At Rangiiur. a good deal of land was under water, v.iiili vi Te Horn tlie Mang.iotie swept down the road and covered larae areas of land. The Wnikamie River was also very high, and caused damage to the dairy company';, factory, l-'ir.-t the boiler was swept away and carried nearly half a mile down the river, thou the engine disappeared, and finally the building itselt was carried fifty yards down stream. Tiic separator and one or two other things wore saved. It is estimated that the (l.iiiinjp :n the factory anil plant will bo from I'dOll to CTftO, but if tho I eir.-inr. etc.. i- s-ilvaged the loss will be j con-id-.-rilily reduced. !
