LIGHTWEIGHT TITLE. LEONARD BEATS WEIXING. VANCOUVER, November 27. A message from New York states tnat Benny Leonard, the world's champion lightweight, successfully defended his title to-night against Joe Welling, of Chicago, winning the diamond belt valued at £500 presented by Tex Rickard. The bout was scheduled to po fifteen rounds, but was stopped in the fourteenth round, after Leonard had scored a technical knock-out.

Leonard sent Welling down three times in the-thirteenth round, and once for the count of eeven in the fourteenth session, after which the referee declared Leonard the winner, thus saving Welling from further punishment.
