OBITUARY.
MR. A. S. SILL-
A well-known footballer, Mr. Augustus S. Hill, son of the late Mr. J. S. HiU, died at Karangahake on Saturday. Deceased was educated at Thames, but afterwards lived in Auckland. For many, years he has been connected with tha Crown and Talisman mines. He wa» stated to be the oldest resident at iCarangahake. Mr. Hill was one of tho Grafton representatives in the football championship match fought with Ponsonby Club in the early eighties. Ha was also a member of Parnell Cricket Club, vice-president of Karangahake Bowling Club. Deceased was founder and life member of the Karaqga-iak-branch of the Acclimatisation Society. He is survived by a widow and one son. MISS M. A. BACOX. A lady well known in. Auckland, 3_is» ■Mary Ann Bacon, died yesterday. Deceased was born in Auckland 68 years ago, being a daughter of the late Mr, '•William Bacon, who arrived here about 1840. Mise Bacon visited the United States in 1803. A lady of business ability, Mies Bacon was tho first lady sharebroker in this city, though not a member of the Auckland Stock Exchange. Later she abandoned businees in -hares, and took tip agency "work. Miss Bacon was a woman of great energy, and found time to assist in many good works.
