SHANTUNG DEAL.
AMERICAN PROTESTS. THREAT OF A WORLD WAR. UNLESS JAPAN DISGORGES. <By Cable.—Press Association.—Copyright.) (Received 1.35 p.m.) NEW YORK, October 23. According- to the Kansas City correspondent of the New York "Times," Mr. William White, whom President Wilson appointed a member of the Prinkipo Conference, in the course of a speech, said that if Congress passed a resolution protesting against the Shantung deal, Australia and New Zealand would do the same. Their action would | force England to join. Thus the moral j revolt of the English-speaking peoples of I the world would force Japan to give up j Shantung. The Oriental countries will begin a ■ war engulfing the world unless Shantung be given back.— (A. and N.Z. Cable.) j
