SINGULAR FATALITY.
COLLAPSE OF A CAVE. HORSE AND RUDER KILLED. (By Telegraph—Own Correspondent,) WHANGAREI, this day. The dead body of the late Edmund Robinson Jack, aged 19, youngest son ; of Mr. D. W. Jack, of Whangarei, was brought from Taihape for interment at Kamo to-day. The particulars, of the fatality, not previously pubiisued,' %■ are now to hand, i'oung Jack was on ,- a station at Taihape, riding a horse over country covering an underground- | cave. The earth gave way, and horse g and rider fell 25 feet. Alarm at the youth's absence led to a search party _ discovering him laying dead under his r ' | horse, which also had its neck broken. "
