BOER WAR VETERANS.

APPLICATION FOR LAND. (By Telegraph.—l'rcss Association.) WELLINGTON, this day. A deputation representing South African veterans waited on the Prime Minister to-day and asked that men who served in the Boer War shouki be accorded the same privileges, especially in regard to the acquisition of land, as returned soldiers from the European war. Mr. Massey, replying, expressed sympathy with the request. It was not so easy to grant it ns first appeared, but he thought it could be provided for. and he would undertake to bring the matter before Cabinet at the first opportunity. He did not doubt it would receive ample support. If the request were granted, the Dominion would gain some valuable settlers. It was essential that production should be increased, especially with lower prices in prospect in years to come and resulting in increased "difficulty in meeting great expenditures arising out of the war. Only the expansion of cultivation would secure increased production.
