CANNOT FIND A HOUSE.
■ "I am willing to shift if you can find mc a house." said a man at the Magistrate's Court this morning, vyhen he appeared before Mr. E. C. Cutten to answer a cln-im for £12 arrears of rent, and to secure possession of the tenement. The man added: "1 have walked the soles oIT my boots looking for a house, but cannot find one." The plaintiff was Mrs. Margaret Orace (Mr. .1. .1. Sullivan) and the defendant •W. I). Xorley. The latter said he could s j not afford to employ a solicitor, and r ] related what H '-hard row In- had to hoe" - isinee the influenza epidemic. lie adt imitted that lie was in arrears with his rent, stated that when he had tendered part, it was rejected. Mr. Sullivan pointed out that the rezk was in arrears for seventeen weeks. 11 His Worship said-he mould take a little ,a j time to consider whether there was »■ enough evidence to prove it was a weekly " tenancy. There had not been any writ<j ten agreement produced to prove it was 1 a weekly tenancy. That raised the t- question as to whether or not defendant i> iiiu.-t have a month's notice given.
