ALLEGED MONEY THEFT.
(By Telegraph.— Press Association.) CHRISTCHURCH, this day. Tn the Magistrate's Court, David Murray (alias Jackson) and Marie Hill, wero charged with the theft of thirty pounds in notes from a pashbox in tlic Trocadero Hotel. Evidence was given that accused, who bplong to Wellington, stayed at the Troeadcro during a visit to Christehurcli. The police alleged that accused admitted tho theft and surrendered twenty-ninp pounds. Murray stated that lie had been tricked into signing a statement admitting the theft. Hill said a constable told her if the money wae restored t>> complainant th c latter would not prosecute. Accused pleaded not guilty, j They were committed for trial.
