PRESENTATION OF PRIZES.

The fifteenth annual general nieei.ng of. the above association was held in the club pavilion last evening, Commodore A. G. •i.unn presiding over a good attendance of members, including a number of the fair

•lhe report aud balance sheet, which had been printed and distributed to members, was adopted on the motion of the cnairmau. in moving its auoption 'Mr. Lainn said that there was every indication of the coming season being an exceptionally good one. A number of new launches were budding, and already over twenty nominations were iv hand for new mem'Ders. it was gratifying to see so many of the younger members, who had been enrolled iv our overseas forces, coming back and ugaln taking an active Interest in the atfalrs of tne club. The balance sheet would show that they were 1" ti sound financial position, for beside* a credit balance on the general account, £103 had been paid off the club house debentures, leaving £511 as the total liability on the whole of the club buildings, which on a •conservative estimate, is valued at £1400. It hud been necessary to Increase the locker accommodation and extend the dinghy sklds, aiid if the membership increased at the present rate It would not be long, the speaker said, before the question of largely increasing the present building would have to be seriously considered. The election of officers for the ensuing year resulted as follows:—Patron, Mr. H. D. Heather; vice-patrons, Hon. A. M. •Myers, Messrs. C. J. Parr, C.M.G., J. H. Guuson, W. B. 'Lcylaud, and Captain H. 11. Sergeant; commodore, Mr. A. G. Lunn (re-elected); vice-commodore, Mr. S. H. •Lcyland (re-elected); rear-commodore, Mr. \V. 'Dawson (re-elected); hon. treasurer, Mr. C. L. Mcintosh; hon. secretary, Mr. W. D. Itoss (re-elected); hon. solicitor, (Mr. J. Alexander (re-elected). The Hag officers returned thanks for the honour conferred on them, and they promised to help the club to the best of their ability during the coining season. Mr. W. I. Earle reluctantly retired from office as hon. treasurer, which position he had held for several years, and was accorded a hearty vote of thanks for his 'past services. •Considerable Interest was taken in the election for committee, and the voting resulted in the following gentlemen being elected: Messrs. C. Bassett, V.C., L,. Buchanan, d— Cunningham, C. J. Collings, .1. Inkster, iE. Lefftoy, G. McKenzle, W. S. Mcintosh, C. H. Palmer, 3. M. Walker, aud A. Wilson.

Ladles' Committee. —Mesdames -Lunn, ißurt, Webber, Cunningham, Palmer, Hughes, Leyland nnd -tenuis; -Misses Lunn, Workman and Dawson.

The prizes won during the past season were presented by Mrs. Lunn, as follows: :Race to Matlatla: Waiata 1, lloma G. 2: race to Arkle's Bay: Anzac 1, Tarua 2; race to Anzac Cove: Anzac 1, Surf _; fourth race: iPastlme 1, Drayton 2, Daisy

3; harbour race: Waiata 1, Drayton 2, Banshee 3; general handicap: 'Waiata 1, Draytou _. The Kean Cup was won outright by Tarua, that boat having won It the previous year: the Burt Cup was won by Waiohine. This cup was presented byMr. A. Burt, to take the place of the Whitney Cup, which he won last year. The Big Tree Shield for the highest aggregate •points was won by Anzac with 34 points, Waiata 'being runner-up with 2S points.

The following gentlemen were elected life members: .Hon. A. M. (Myers, Messrs. IT. D. Heather E. 'Lcßov. A. Burt. jun.. A. G. Lunn and. J. W. 'Ross. Handsome framed certificates were presented to each life member.

The commodore made a presentation of a smoker's outfit to Mr. ,T. W. Boss, on behalf of the committee. Mr. Ross, who has been a handicapper for the club, and an active worker for the past ten or twelve years, expressed his thanks for the very useful present, and the appreciation of his services by the committee.

The commodore mentioned that an article which appeared in a contemporary on the .matter ot a boat harbour, made certain reflections on the chairman of the Harbour .Board, Mr. H. D. Heather, and he deprecated any such action, and moved i l ,. * e '*2 lutl , ol ?' tbe '"""'Port of which was that the club was in sympathy with a boat harbour scheme, but desired to disassociate itself from any connection with the article in question.

Mr. S II Leyland seconded the motion, and said he deplored the tone of the article. 'Mr. Mcintosh and several oth«T speakers also supported the motion which was carried.
