MAY DAY RIOTS.
EXCITEMENT IN PARIS. MANY HEADS BROKEN. NEW YORK, May 2. Infantry and cavalry reinforced the gendarmerie to prevent the May Day demonstrators marching on tn Place dt la Concorde. Firemen turnecl hoses or the crowd, who twice broke the military cordons. Many heads were broken ir baton charges. Another riotous crowc shouted, "Down with the Government.' The riots continued during the night. Demonstrators then attempted to barri cade the streets, bul mounted met charged them. A great number wen wounded, including M. I'achin, a mem ber of the Chamber of Deputies, and th' editor of "La Humanite." and n mnni'-i pal councillor. Shots lired by the mol wounded three policemen. POLICEMEN SHOT IN BOSTON (Received 1(1.35 a.m.) NEW YORK. May 2. Three policemen were shot and a number of persons were injured during May Day riots between soldiers, sailors, nnd radicals.—(A. and N.Z. Cubic.) A HOLIDAY IN DUBLIN. (Received 10.15 a.m.) LONDON May 2. Dublin workers declared Thursday a public holiday, and tbe trams, trains, public services, and newspapers were sui-pendcd.—(A. and N.Z. Cable.) THREE KILLED IN NEW YORK. NEW YORK, May 2. Soldiers and sailors attacked a May Day Labour demonstration in Medicon Square. Police reserves dispersed the crowds. Three people were killed.
