TREATMENT OF INVALID SOLDIERS.
rro the Editor.) Sir, —I write as a returned man, and one who has read with much interest the letters to the Defence "Minister 'by the father of a soldier who died at Hanmer. If an inquiry be held, I believe that all the statements whioh have been made by the writer of the letters can be proved. I hope it is not thought that Wellington only is interested, for Dunedin, Christeliurch, and Auckland are watching events, and hope the matter will not be closed till justice is done. Having seen the soldier when he was in Auckland Hospital, I know he was very ill, and have read with indignation the account of his journey to Hanmer. For almost three years 1 have been in close touch with wounded and sick men, and I, with others, wish to see invalided privates and invalided officers treated alfcke. Much lias already been done. Let mc quote one instance of an invalided soldier who liad to be transferred from one place to smother. Certain arrangements , were pi ,osed, font other and better were made owing, 1 know, to the Clemens case. Every provision was made and every care taken. Undoubtedly there hue been a dilTerence in the treatment of invalided soldiers since the publication of Mr. Clemens' letters, and 1 believe that other men will live, owing to the efforte of the father of one ot New Zealand's bravest sons.—l am, etc., N.Z.
