ARBITRATION COURT
DAIRY EMPLOYEES A>"D ENGINEERS.
The industrial dispute affecting the Auckland creameries, cheese, and butter factories was mentioned at the Arbitration Court yesterday afternoon, before his Honor Mr. Justice Stringer. ilr. Wesley Richards appeared for the union. HU Honor stated that Mr. W. Pryor, representative for the" employers, had been taken suddenly and seriously ill, and probably the employers would prefer an adjournment. Mr. Barter etati-d that he appeared for the Amalgamated Society of Engineers to protest against the inclusion of engineers and tinsmiths in the award. Mr. H. E. Paccy. for the employers, stated that he would prefer an adjournment until Mr. Pryor could be present. He was of the opinion, however, tbat all the employees should come under the one award. An ordinary award would be impossible of performance in reference to the dairy industry, as hours and other conditions ■were so different. The employers preferred to have the engineers and tinsmiths left in the award. Mr. Barter stated that the principal reason why the engineers and tinsmiths did not wish to be included in the dairy award was the difference in wages for the time worked. After further argument his Honor stated that he would hare to give the employers time to go into the matter, and, adjourned the case till Monday next.
