GERMAN PEACE HUNGER.
ORGANISED MOVEMENT. BERNE, January 14. Tlie German Socialist paper "Vorwaerts" announces that 2,000 electors at Bielefeld, in Westphalia, carried a resolution urging the Government to reply favourably to a recent Note from the Pope and refrain from any open or secret annexation demands. A similar movement is 'being organised throughout Germany. Tlie "Vorwaerts" declares that although Mr Wilson's speech hardly inspires whole-hearted confidence in tlie German people, it should serve as the basis for peace if the other members of the western alliance formally give their adhesion to its proposals.— (A- and N.Z.)
