Lord Derßy informed the Associated Press that it was impossible to estimate'the number of men his scheme would produce. One essential thing, was, however, sure, namely, that it had been a complete answer to Germany, and had shown that we had enough men to carry the war to a successful conclusion. The quality of the recruits was of a high order, while their physique, stamina and intelligence were in three sizes—big, medium, and small. It would become a necessity to discontinue the small size entirely and the medium partially. The intelligence of the men was of such a high order that it had helped to solve the problem of supplying a sufficient number of trained officers, ' ■'"■
