(Before Messrs. Wm. Duncan and Wm. Dowding, J.P.'s.) DRUNKENNESS. Two first offenders forfeited bail, and five others hod to nay 5/ apiece. One old man who had wandered away from Costlcy Home and got drunk was convicted and discharged, and yet another "first" was convicted and ordered to come up for sentence when called on, a condition being that he should leave town to-day. Francis J. Brothers, who had to be sent to hospital, was remanded till Friday. Wm. J. Spargo (31) and Wm. Carroll (42) for second offences, were fined 10/ each. Ernest Hickson (30), up for a third time recently, agreed to the issue of a prohibition order, and was discharged; Alexander McPhearson (41) was fined 20/ and prohibited willy-nilly. Frank Bullen (34). for using obscene language on the wharf when he was drunk, was fined 40/,. or seven days.' "THOSE OTHER CHAPS." Albert Johnstone (33), who had been found drunk in charge of a dray and team of horses, having attracted attention by falling off the vehicle, agreed to take out a prohibition order. "If I hadn't met those other chaps yesterday, I wouldn't be here to-day," was his explanation. He was fined 20/ and prohibited. A HUSBAND'S PRIVILEGE. Frederick Poulson (44), who had been arrested when drunk in Union Street last night, was charged, in addition to drunkenness, that on Monday evening he had assaulted his wife by striking her on the head with a tea-cup. The wife stated that on Monday evening her husband came home in a bad mood because the tea was late, and when she put a dish on the table for him, he kicked it on to the floor. She poured out a cup of tea for herself, and her husband picked up the cup and hit her on the head with it, cutting her head and scalding her face with the hot' tea. She had to go to Dr. Aickin and get a wound on her head, an inch long, dressed. Poulson, who merely replied, "No," when asked if he had anything to say, was fined 5/ for the drunkenness, and was sentenced to fourteen days' hard labour for the assault. MISCELLANEOUS. Thomas Quinlan (26), who indulged in the delights of a stand-up fight at Market Entrance yesterday evening with a man who saw the coming constable first and bolted, had to pay 20/ for what fun he got out of the bout.

Austin (or Phoebe) Smith (35), for importuning in Upper Queen Street, and vagrancy, was sentenced to two months' hard labour.

Annie McCarthy (57) and Robert Greenwood (41) were convicted of having behaved indecently in the open in the lower part of Western Park about midday yesterday. The man was said to be a stranger to the town, and had £29 on him, while the woman was notorious to the Court, and the Bench sentenced McCarthy to six months' hard labour, and convicted Greenwood and ordered him to come up for sentence when called on, a cpnditio.n. being that he should donate £5 to the hospital. Similar charges were made against Ellen Millwood (50) and Albert Jeffrjes (23). the locality of the offence 'befng the gully in Basque Road. Eden Terrace, and here again the Bench decided that the man had been led astray by a bad woman, and sent Millwood to gaol for a month, while Jeffries was prohibited and ordered to come up for sentence when called on, his contribution to the hospital to be £2.

John Olsen, alias Murphy (38), a sailor, on two charges of indecent assault on a male, was remanded till January 5.
