A MIGHTY MAZE.
BUT WOT WITHOUT A PLAN. LONDON, January 15. The lectures by Mr A. J. Balfour at the Glasgow University on theism are exciting attention. He argues that the body of beliefs which all entertain about the world, men, and things are more reasonable if regarded in a theismic setting. He said yesterday that until the idea of consciousness was added to evolution, the latter was an unmeaning phrase. Unless behind men's reasoning, ethical sentiments and feeling for beauty, men found a rational cause, a moral cause and a God who cared for beanty, these beliefs must be largely valueless.
