DUNEDIN'S GOOD PROGRESS.
CARTERS RUN THE GAUNTLET. (By Telegraph.—Press Association.) DUNEDIN. Tuesday. It is estimated that 200 or 300 tons of cargo were unloaded from the Moeraki to-day. The work of discharging her will probably be completed to-morrow afternoon, after which operations will be commenced on either the Victoria or the Corinna. Excitement was noticeable this afternoon when p the work of carting the goods away from the wharf began. The crowd lined the end of Wharf street, nearest to Rattray iStreet. and here the drivers had to run the gauntlet. One of the earliest carts to get away was carrying chests of tea, and two of these were knocked off into the road, but strikers' pickets, it is understood, ordered these to be replaced, and this was done. A couple of the police cordon at the barrier were withdrawn, and soon afteT their appearance on the scene the cart got safely through, but on the police officers returning to the barrier each fresh cart that came past had to make its way throii£-h a howhng. hooting group, and two in particular had an unpleasant experience. Art the drays and expresses returned empty for further loads they were jrreeted with some vehemence. They made their way through, however, with no more actual molestation than an occasional attempt by an apostle of "■moral suasion*' to mount the step and argue with the driver. DUNEDLN. this day. All was quiet on the waterfront this morning. The work of discharging the Moeraki's cargo is proceeding.
