THE HUNTLY STRIKE.
(From Our Own Correspondent.) HUNTLY. Tuesday. A meeting of the local Justices was held at the Courthouse to further consider the letter from the Strike Committee of the Huntly 'Miners' Union, tihe members of which, as the result of a general meeting, pointed out the necessity- of closing the Huntly Hotel during the strike. Mr. .). P. Bailey slated that the licensee had voluntarily promised to close the hotel iv ihe event of trouble arising. The present- attitude of the men was a credit to ihe-n. and. as far as he could see. tihere was no necessity to come to any decision. It was later resolved to leave the matter in the hands of the police for a report as to the neees-ritv or otherwise ol closing -be hoted. Nothing of a -hostile nature took place members ot the Strike Committee contenting themselve- with distributing pamphlets dealing with the local strike to those on the train.
