ARBITRATION COURT.
(By Telegraph.—Press A_»ocl»U_) DUNEDIN, this day. In respect of an application 'made in the Arbitration Court by the Dunedin Operative Tailors and Tailoresacs' Union, a protracted .argument occurred over tbe clause affecting bespoke work. Mr Prior, in applying for exemption ol retail drapers, said the original clause was intended to protect the public legitimate trades and the public against deception in the form of factory made clothes being sold as tailor made suits. Mr Jenkins, on behalf of the employers, said if the old clauses were re-estab-lished it.would lead to bringing in.the' American system, which, briefly, consisted in supplying a temporarily finished store suit that could he altered easily to meet the requirements of customers. This system had been done away with by many ordinary tailors in America. The Court reserved its decision.
