A WET SEPTEMBER.
The rainfall for the month of September was, according to the figures gathered by Mr Cheeseman, curator of the Mnseur-, 5.53 in, bringing the total for the year Sip \ to 48.15 in, as against 31.23 in for the.sahi« period last year. The past quarter's contribution was 17.82 in, the same period in 1911 being 7.56_. From these figures it will be noted that the rainwall for the * last three months is more in excess of last j year's figures than are those of the first six months, the average excess in tha former case being over 3in per month. It is also of interest to notice that the average rainfall for September during th* past 45 years has been 3.22 in. (By Telesrayh.—Press Association.) WAIHI, this dayMr. Devereux, F.R.A.S., reports that the rainfall for September amounted to 14.15 inc'ies. The average in previous years was 7.42 inches. Only on one occasion previously has the fall for September been as high, when 15.63 inches fell in the same month of 1909. Rain fell on 27 days during last month.
