An old colonist, Mrs. A. Lamb, died suddenly a day or two ago at her r_deuce in Paget Street, Ponsonby. Mrs. Lamb arrived in New Zealand in 1857, and since the death of her husband, who was a partner in the firm of Lamb Br—, Thames, has resided in Auckland. _• deceased was highly respected by a largs circle of friends, and leaves three sott and four daughters, namely, Mr. Herbert Lamb and Mr. C. A. (H. and 0. Lamb, Karangahape Road). Mr. Albert Lamb (chemist), Mrs. R. W. Bagnail (of Turua), Mrs. W. R. Woolley, Mrs. _ J. Entrican, and Mrs. Joseph Ambury (who, with her husband, is away. on a trip to England). The funeral took place at Onehunga yesterday afternoon, the Rev. H. Knowles Kempton conducting a short service at the homo, and officiating at the graveside. Numerous telegrams and messages of sympathy wera received from all parts of the Dominion, and a number of floral emblems were received, among which were wreaths from the officers of the Auckland Tabernacle, . the Remuera Children's Home, the employees of H. and C. Lamb, Dr. A. O. Knight, and many others. The night march of the 3rd (Auckland) Regiment, yesterday evening, from the Drill Hall out to the grounds of tha Dilworth Institute at Epsom, was a great success, and proved a welcome break from the ordinary drills. The route was by way of Symonds Street, Park Road, Khyber Pass Road, and through New- jg market. At the Institute grounds hot coffee and bisnuits were served out to the men, and as tbe night was fairly sharp, this attention was much appreciated. Before the regimeni left, Colonel Bartlett, officer commanding, thanked Major' Plugge, the head ov the Institute, for himi hospitality. On the return march the Regiment had the band, and the people along the route took much interest in tho passing of the territorials. The marching was good, and the discipline was excellent. Such outings, though mora troublesome than the ordinary drills' to those who organise them, are an excellent thing for the territorials, and it is ta be hoped the example will be followed.
