COMMERCIAL EXCHANGE WITH CANADA.
(To the Editor.) Sir. —Mr Beildoe's story of the delayed documents through ignorance of a Canadian bank cleric loses its point when the fact is known that practically all banking between Canada and. New Zealand is done via London. As far as I know, there is only one bank—the Bank of New South Wales—which does a direct business. If papers miss a mail it can happen that goods arrive before the documents. This is often the case when shipments go via Vancouver. To meet, the difficulty in some; way, duplicates are sent by exporters to consignees direct. Geography is one of the strong points in the Canadian school syllabus, and a Canadian bank clerk who cannot locate Xew Ze.ala.nd is just as unthinkable a-s a Xew Zealand bank clerk who could not locate Fiii- —I sm. etc, A MERCHANT.
