NEED FOR A TRADE MARK. TRANSATLANTIC CABLE. MELBOURNE, July 11. At the Chambers of Commerce Congress to-day a resolution was carried approving of the movement to obtain a trade mark to denote goods manufactured or produced in the British Empire. It was resolved that th? Commonwealth Government be requested to open negotiations with the British. Canadian, and New Zealand! Governments, with a view to acquiring control of the cable service across the Atlantic from Canada to Britain. A resolution was also passed affirming the desirability of an amendment to tire insurance policies to cover loss or damage by fire in consequence of strikers' riots and civil commotions. It was decided to approach the I fire underwriters on the subject.
