MAYORAL ELECTIONS.

There appears every likelihood of oontesta for the Mayoralty of various local bodies in and around Auckland this year. At Grey Lynn the present Mayor (Mr. W. A. Murray") has announeed himself as a candidate, and Councillor J. A. Warnock has also definitely decided to stand. It is also probable that there will be "a third candidate. In the borough of Parnell Mr. C E. Palmer hat decided to stand for the Mayoral office. Mr. R. S. Briggs (the present Mayor), when interviewed upon the matter, said he bad not yet decided whether be would be a candidate for another term of office. Other probable candidates mentioned are Messrs. Maxwell and T. Long. At Mount Eden so far there has not been any definite mention of a candidate to contest the seat with the present Mayor (Mr. Oliver Xieholson). The Mount Albert Borough Council, at its last meeting, passed a resolntioi asking Mr. M. J. Coyle to otand for another year of office, which he agreed to do.
