The Superintendent of Gaols, discussing the shooting of <a prisoner who was attempting to escape, states that Warder Driscoll obeyed instructions in the spirit and manner intended, having aimed only to cripple, as Cooper's wound showed. SHEEP-HREEDERS' SHOW. SYDNEY. June 28. _ihe entries for the sheep-breeders* show, which precedes the annual sales, are well maintained both in number and quality. Tasnfflni.ua and New South Wales breeders were the most successful in the housed classes in British breeds. Studholms, of Canterbury, took first prize for Romney Marsh ram under 18 months, and J. Dowthwaite, of Canterbury,. annexed most of the prizes for Border Leicesters. He took first and second prize in each case for rams "over two years, and under two years arid under 18 months, and for. ewes under two years. J. Nixon, of Canterbury, secured two thirds.
